On Center Gallery in Provincetown highlights its five Cape Cod artists in feature show “THE LOCALS”

The Gallery is pleased to announce an August exhibition featuring the five Cape Cod artists represented at OCG.  These artists include: Michael Hartwig, Marian Roth, Jill Rothenberg-Simmons, Jackie Reeves, and Gin Stone

Michael Hartwig is a Provincetown-based artist specializing in original oil paintings of Cape Cod dunes, marshes, wharfs, and boats. Inspired by the magical light of Provincetown, Hartwig’s focus has been trying to capture the light and air of the Cape in his landscapes.

Marian Roth is painter, photographer, and mixed media artist who moved to Provincetown in 1982 to fulfill a dream of living and making art in a community of creative people. She has been awarded a Guggenheim Fellowship, a Pollock Krasner Fellowship, a fellowship from the Massachusetts Cultural Council, and was honored with a lifetime award for artistic excellence by Provincetown Art Association and Museum.

Jill Rothenberg-Simmons is a painter and ceramicist based in Provincetown. She holds a BFA from Alfred University in Ceramics. After a long career leading an architecture firm in Boston, Jill now takes time to focus on her paintings and ceramics, pulling inspiration from the Cape Cod landscapes and creative environment of Provincetown.

Jackie Reeves is a painter and mixed media artist based in Sandwich. Reeves brings together figurative and abstract elements to create paintings and visual collages of her experiences, often inspired by old family photos.

Gin Stone is a sculptor based in Harwich. As an environmentalist and animal lover, Stone uses hand dyed, reclaimed, longline fishing gear and found objects from nature to create whimsical and intricate animal sculptures.
